 In Uncategorized

ALMA International is a Loudspeaker Sourcing Show sponsor and we thank them for conducting the ALMA Spotlight sessions at the 2016 show which were well received by our attendees and exhibitors. For those not familiar with the benefits of ALMA membership, including the upcoming January show, we talked to Barry Vogel, Association Manager for ALMA.

Why was ALMA formed and what are the organization’s long term goals?

ALMA was formed in 1961. While the audio industry as a whole is well represented by several organizations, there are none that specifically address the technology and the needs of electro-acoustic engineers and product developers. ALMA caters to their concerns, technology and education. Long term, ALMA seeks to deepen our commitment to developing and promoting specialized education for our industry, and to be a neutral, nonpartisan place for all to network, share ideas, and to contribute to the growth and welfare of the industry.

What does ALMA do?

ALMA International’s “claim to fame” has always been in top notch education, information sharing, and networking presented by some of the best industry professionals at our annual convention, ALMA International Symposium & Expo (AISE). What has changed in recent years is a focus on doing business at AISE. AISE offers exhibitors and attendees a targeted professional audience that makes doing business more productive and more focused. For 2017, everything we do at AISE is meant to serve our core values; Business , Education, Standards, and Technology. Our schedule, our convention layout, even our social events promote opportunities to learn, to share, and to get business done!

How does ALMA help individual brands to participate in the standardization of the loudspeaker industries?

There are currently no standards across the electro-acoustic industry that are universally accepted. ALMA does not create standards, but our Standards Committee participates with other standards organizations on various projects.

What Is NEW at ALMA?

At AISE 2016, ALMA introduced our Education initiative. The purpose of the initiative is meant to connect students with future employers, and educators with cutting edge research to companies interested in funding that research. It is also designed as a resource to better communicate to students the requisite skills and training required to “hit the ground running” upon graduation.

What are the dates for the January AISE Show?

AISE 2017 takes place on January 3 & 4, 2017 immediately before International CES in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. For 2017, ALMA is presenting 45 hours of content. 34 break-out sessions. And numerous opportunities to network and to build and establish vital industry contacts. All in 2 packed days.

What does it cost to attend AISE?

Members may attend the exhibits at no cost. Non-members with a Promo-Code from participating exhibitors may also obtain an Exhibits Pass absolutely free.

The amazing value of AISE is our All Access Pass for attendees that is all inclusive. All breakout sessions and exhibit hall access is included. Plus, breakfast and lunch both days is included as is the gala annual ALMA Banquet and awards ceremony. $449 member price gets it all! Exhibitors get the same kind of unbelievable value. That is why industry leaders from around the world make their way to AISE every year, and they keep coming back.

Why should companies attend the show in January?

There is no better value, no better venue for the electro-acoustic industry than AISE 2017. There are bigger shows, but only at AISE every attendee and exhibitor is a participant that is pertinent to the electro-acoustic industry. Only at AISE will attendees find cutting edge education, valuable business education, and a business environment that is unsurpassed. Reggie Alphin of Globe Plastics asserts that AISE has been a great source of continuing business for Globe, which is why they exhibit every year.
